Creating a personalized and experiential learning platform

For my senior capstone project, I created a prototype for a textbook platform that created an engaging learning experience for high school students, while also keeping teachers informed of on-going student progress.

I conducted student interviews, created personas, journey maps and studied learning styles, iterating on how I could create content that would cater to different student needs.

The Problem

Students are given large amounts of textbook reading for homework that feels overwhelming and bland. It is difficult to have motivation to finish their reading when they can’t see progress, and when it’s in an uninspiring one-size-fits-all format.

The Goal

Create a digital textbook platform that caters to different learning styles with interactive content that helps students retain information as well as give teachers insights on how their students are performing.

Project Recognition

I received recognition for this project in the 2015 Adobe Design Achievement Awards as a finalist in the Digital Publishing category.

Though this is just a prototype, I am fascinated with how digital learning can be more engaging, and would love to work on more projects like this in the future.
